LIMA — Talks between Husky Energy Inc. and United Steel Workers Local 624 are not only making little progress, but seem to be going backwards.
The two sides met Tuesday for the first time since July 17. It was one in only a handful of bargaining sessions since the union went on strike at the Lima Refinery May 25. Tuesday marked day 75 of the strike.
While the union proposed a settlement to end the strike, Husky proposed switching some full-time, union positions to contractor jobs, Local 624 President Mike Edelbrock said.
Husky said it would take the proposal under review and get back with the union about a new day to meet, Edelbrock said.
