Ohio U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown was in the minority when, as a House of Representatives member, he voted against the Defense of Marriage Act.  After today's U.S. Supreme Court ruling that found the law unconstitutional, Brown issued this statement:

“The Supreme Court today upheld our Constitution’s guarantees of equality. For the next generation of Americans, for the military families who have supported service members in the shadows, and couples who have dedicated their lives to one another for decades, this historic ruling proves that our American future is not defined by yesterday’s inequality.”
