STEUBENVILLE, Ohio -U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) was talking Marcellus Shale in Jefferson County Monday.

Brown made a stop at Eastern Gateway Community College, where they've been training local residents for jobs in the booming oil and gas industry.

According to Brown, he's done about 200 round table discussions across Ohio, sitting down with a handful of people to talk about jobs. Monday at the Pugliesi Training Center, school employees and Steubenville Mayor Domenick Mucci were on hand as Brown spoke about his plan to get more out-of-work Ohioans into the natural gas industry. He's calling it the Strengthening Employment Clusters to Organize Regional Success or SECTORS Act.

Brown told 7news that goal is to make sure these jobs stay in this region, that the people hired are from here in Eastern Ohio, and that companies can find employees with the right skills when they need them.

EGCC has been working to make that happen with their many training programs.
