WASHINGTON, D.C. – Following an announcement by Nationwide today, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) released a statement applauding the company’s action in raising its minimum wage to $15 per hour:

“Companies like Nationwide Insurance realize that raising the minimum wage is good for workers and good for business,” Brown said. “Nationwide Insurance has always been an important corporate leader in our state and this move solidifies its commitment to workers and our community. Ensuring that workers have more money in their paychecks allows them to take care of their families and helps stimulate the economy.”

Brown has fought to increase workers’ wages, address income inequality, and ensure paid sick leave for workers. He has also worked to increase wages for tipped workers, which could lift hundreds of thousands of workers out of poverty.
