MILLERSBURG, OH —In Holmes County today, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) outlined policies to promote job growth and economic development during a speech to local government officials, business leaders, and economic development experts. Brown highlighted policies that help support Ohio industries while addressing leaders from Belmont, Carroll, Columbiana, Coshocton, Guernsey, Harrison, Holmes, Jefferson, Muskingum, and Tuscarawas Counties.

“Our state’s most valuable resource is its people,” Brown said. “That’s why it’s so important that we come together to share successes and pool resources to tackle our most difficult challenges. By working together, we can create a climate that helps businesses hire workers, export goods, and strengthens our communities.”

Brown also discussed his efforts to ensure American workers have a level-playing field and that trade agreements support domestic manufacturing and address unfair trade practices. Additionally, Brown outlined his legislation to ensure that Ohio workers receive skills training in high-growth industries that are hiring workers –  like manufacturing, clean energy, healthcare and biosciences.
