WASHINGTON, D.C. – A Columbiana County fire department was awarded new federal resources for fire prevention. U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that the Wellsville Volunteer Fire Department has been awarded resources by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Fire Prevention and Safety (FP&S) grant program.

“Our first responders put their lives on the line every day across Ohio,” said Brown. “These funds ensure that firefighters in Wellsville have the resources they need to perform their jobs safely.”

The Wellsville Volunteer Fire Department was awarded $2,850.

The FP&S grant program supports projects that enhance the safety of the public and firefighters from fire and related hazards. The main goal is to reach high-risk populations and reduce injury and prevent death.
