WASHINGTON, D.C. –U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today applauded news that South Side Middle School in Columbiana County has been designated as a 2015 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education (ED). The National Blue Ribbon Schools program recognizes elementary, middle, and high schools that have worked towards closing the achievement gap or have students who continually perform at very high levels. Of the 335 public and private schools recognized by ED today as National Blue Ribbon Schools, 14 are located in Ohio. A summary on each school can be found here.

“I am proud of the work done by Ohio’s Blue Ribbon Schools to help secure a bright future for our students,” Brown said. “These schools, and many others across our state, are setting a high bar for our students and driving them towards success.”

Representatives from each school will travel to Washington D.C. for a recognition ceremony held by ED on November 9 and 10.
