WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) met with Loretta Lynch, President Obama’s nominee for U.S. Attorney General, the nation’s top law enforcement officer. During the meeting, Brown raised topics important to Ohioans, including voting rights and criminal justice.

“Few things are more important to our nation than the impartial and swift administration of justice. As Attorney General, Loretta Lynch will help ensure that our nation lives up to its ideal of equality under the law. This means that the Department of Justice must stand up for voting rights and ensure a fair criminal justice system,” Brown said. “Loretta Lynch will be a strong and forceful advocate for all Americans. I look forward to supporting her historic nomination.”

An accomplished attorney and experienced litigator, Lynch has undertaken a distinguished legal career. Lynch currently serves as the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York – one of the nation’s most active U.S. Attorney’s offices.
