Hagel Brown

WASHINGTON, D.C. – During a meeting with Senator Chuck Hagel, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) pressed the secretary of defense nominee to continue the production of the M1A2 Abrams Tank. Brown discussed a number of his Ohio priorities with Hagel during a meeting in Brown’s office this week.

“The production of the M1A2 Abrams Tank is critical to our nation’s security and Northwest Ohio’s economy,” Brown said. “I look forward to Sen. Hagel being a partner in continuing the production of the M1A2 Abrams Tank and the jobs it brings to Northwest Ohio. I will continue working to ensure that the Lima tank plant remains a critical hub in our nation’s security.”

Brown helped secure $136 million in additional funding for the Abrams tank procurement in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which will ensure that the Lima plant can continue to operate at its current levels through September 30, 2013.
