In Lima, Brown Meets with Husky Energy Workers, Urges a Resolution to Ongoing Strike

Brown Has Asked Husky Energy, United Steelworkers Local 624 to Negotiate in Good Faith so Employees Can Return to their Jobs; More Than 200 Workers Are on Strike

LIMA, OH—U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) visited Lima today to meet with Husky Energy workers, members of the United Steelworkers Local 624.  More than 200 workers in Lima have been on strike since May 25, and several attempts between Husky Energy and the USW have fallen short.

“Husky Energy is a critical part of the Lima community and the Allen County economy. I remain optimistic that company management will work alongside the United Steelworkers to resolve the ongoing strike so that the men and women who have worked hard to make Husky a success can return to their jobs,” Brown said. “I hope that both parties can achieve a fair contract, agreeable to both sides that will bring these employees back to work.”

Brown has urged Husky Energy and the United Steelworkers to work together to resolve their disagreements so employees can return to their jobs. Letters to the company and to the union can be seen here and here.
