WASHINGTON, D.C. — In the wake of unprovoked attacks on Israel by the Hamas terrorist organization, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced his cosponsorship of a resolution supporting Israel and its right to defend its citizens.

The resolution:

  • Reaffirms the United States’ belief in Israel’s right to defend its citizens
  • Condemns Hamas’ unprovoked rocket attacks on Israel;
  • Calls for an end to Hamas’ rocket fire and all other attacks;
  • Calls on Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to condemn Hamas

“Israel has a right and an obligation to defend its people against indiscriminate rocket attacks launched by a terrorist group,” Brown said. “The American people stand alongside our closest ally in the Middle East in opposing these senseless provocations.”

The bipartisan resolution is led by U.S. Sens. Kelly Ayotte (R-NH), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Robert Menendez (D-NJ), and Chuck Schumer (D-NY).
