WASHINGTON, D.C. – New federal resources have been awarded to an airport in Ottawa County. U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that the Put-in-Bay Township Port Authority has been awarded resources through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to make improvements to the Middle Bass Airport.

“The Middle Bass Airport supports tourism and commerce in Ottawa County,” Brown said. “This funding will improve the safety and efficiency of the airport so it can remain a reliable option for the region.”

The Put-in-Bay Township Port Authority will receive a grant of $100,800 to purchase and replace equipment to help the Middle Bass Airport’s airfield during adverse weather conditions. The funds will also be used to conduct a wildlife hazard assessment.
