WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that the Ohio Department of Public Safety’s Traffic Safety Office has been awarded $1,370,216.75 in Fiscal Year 2015 funds by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to support traffic and vehicle safety programs.
“Traffic safety programs are critical in addressing the thousands of preventable auto accidents in Ohio each year,” Brown said. “This federal funding will go a long way in improving safety conditions for Ohio drivers and for pedestrians sharing the road.”
These funds were made available through the Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act (MAP-21) which Brown supported.
