WASHINGTON, D.C. – Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) will receive new federal resources to make improvements at several transit stations in Lakewood and Cleveland. U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced today that a competitive grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) FY 2011 Bus Livability Initiative Project was awarded to GCRTA. Grants will be used to help transit agencies create bus only curb-side lanes during peak commuting hours and traffic signal prioritization for emergency and transit vehicles.

“Ohioans who live, work, and do business in Cuyahoga County deserve a reliable and affordable public transportation system,” Brown said. “These funds are an investment in the future of Cuyahoga County and will enhance the services provided by the Cleveland Regional Transit Authority.”

GRTCA will receive $3,000,000 to complete these projects.
