WASHINGTON, D.C. – New federal resources have been awarded to an airport in Athens County. U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) resources to improve the runway at Snyder Field.

“The Ohio University Snyder Field Airport provides important services to Ohio University’s aviation program, the Athens community, and visitors” Brown said. “This funding will improve the safety and efficiency of the airport so it can remain a reliable option for air travelers in Southeast Ohio.”

The airport will receive a $166,500 grant to be used for to conduct a pavement management study and remove obstructions in the runway. The airport service area consists of Athens, Hocking, Meigs, Washington, Vinton, Galia, Jackson, Morgan, and Perry Counties.
