CLEVELAND, OH—U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) applauded the dedication of Cleveland’s new $465 million Convention Center and adjacent Global Center for Health Innovation after attending today’s ribbon cutting ceremony.

“The completion of this new convention center is excellent news for the city of Cleveland and Northeast Ohio,” Brown said. “CCC is a world class facility that will create jobs, increase revenues, and benefit local workers and businesses by drawing organizations into the region.”

Brown continued, “Biosciences and health care are two major drivers of Ohio’s economy. The Global Center for Health Innovation will be a hub for the research and development needed to keep our state healthier, prosperous, and continue moving forward.”

With hundreds in attendance, today’s ribbon cutting ceremony was hosted by Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald and Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson. The Cleveland Convention Center (CCC) will host its first major event in July, the 2013 National Senior Summer Games.
