LEIPSIC, OH — On Tuesday, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) visited PRO-TEC Coating Company in Leipsic to tour the production facilities and meet with associates. Brown outlined efforts to level the playing field for American workers through enforcing and implementing trade policies that help business retain and add workers. PRO-TEC manufactures high-strength yet lightweight steel products, primarily for use in building automobiles.

“PRO-TEC’s position as a leader in the steel processing industry demonstrates the innovation found in Ohio businesses,” Brown said. “Our economic recovery depends on the strength of our manufacturing sector and we must continue to ensure that American companies are competing on a level playing field.”

Brown is fighting on behalf of Ohio steel manufacturers to pressure the Administration to implement policies that support the production and procurement of American steel to help business retain and add workers while boosting Ohio communities’ economic strength. Brown authored the Currency Exchange Rate Oversight Reform Act to hold accountable countries that undervalue their currency to give their exports an unfair price advantage. The legislation would counter the economic harm to American manufactures like PRO-TEC, bolstering their competiveness in the market.
