WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has awarded $422,123 in funding for chronic disease prevention to Asian Services in Action, Inc. in Akron. This funding is intended to help the organization address tobacco use, poor nutrition, and/or infrequent physical activity, each a leading risk factor for death, disease, or disability.

“This is excellent news for the health and well-being of residents of Akron,” Brown said. “So many deaths can be prevented through better nutrition, increased physical activity, and the disuse of tobacco products. These funds will help expand access to life-saving measures throughout the region.”
