WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has awarded $1,983,620 in funding for chronic disease prevention to two organizations in Cleveland and Parma. This funding is intended to help the organizations address tobacco use, poor nutrition, and/or infrequent physical activity, each a leading risk factor for death, disease, or disability.

“This is excellent news for the health and well-being of residents of Cleveland and Parma,” Brown said. “So many deaths can be prevented through better nutrition, increased physical activity, and the disuse of tobacco products. These funds will help expand access to life-saving measures throughout the region.”
