Sen. Brown held a news conference in Cleveland to outline new “do not track” legislation he is supporting that would give Internet and smartphone users—including victims of domestic abuse and stalking—the ability to prevent anyone from collecting or tracking their personal information, including their whereabouts.

During National Police Week—and with nine Cleveland-area police officers killed in the line of duty over the last ten years— Sen. Brown held a news conference to announce a new bill he is cosponsoring that would create a national “Blue Alert” system aimed at apprehending criminals who injure or kill law enforcement officers serving in the line of duty.

Sen. Brown brought the President’s top trade advisor, United States Trade Representative Ron Kirk, to local steelmaker ArcelorMittal Cleveland to discuss how job creation can be promoted through strong trade law enforcement that ensures a level playing field for American businesses. Sen. Brown and Amb. Kirk discussed how trade law enforcement defends Ohio manufacturers from unfair foreign competition and helps create and preserve jobs in Ohio and across the country.
At a workshop focused on educating Ohio seniors about fraud and identity theft, Sen. Brown discussed a new bill aimed at preventing financial scams carried out on senior citizens. The legislation, known as the Senior Financial Empowerment Act, would help protect Ohio seniors from financial fraud by cracking down on mail, telemarketing, and Internet fraud aimed at seniors and the elderly. The bill would also help provide additional educational resources to seniors so that they can protect themselves from these types of scams.
Sen. Brown launched his ‘Grown in Ohio’ listening tour in Chesterland at the Patterson Fruit Farm. Sen. Brown will be holding a number of these listening sessions across Ohio in the coming months to get the input of Ohio farmers before the Senate considers the 2012 Farm Bill.
