Sen. Brown Calls on Canadian Ambassador to Crack Down on Asian Carp Smuggling

Following several recent news reports of Asian Carp smuggling from the southern United States to Canada, Sen. Brown held a news conference to call on the Canadian Ambassador to the United States, Gary Doer, to crack down on illegal Asian Carp trafficking that threatens the Lake Erie ecosystem and poses a grave threat to Ohio’s fishing, boating and recreation industries. 


Sen. Brown Swears-In Benita Pearson as Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio

Sen. Brown swore-in the newest judge on the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, Judge Benita Y. Pearson, at a ceremony in Youngstown. Judge Pearson is the first African-American woman to serve as Federal District Judge in Ohio.


Sen. Brown joins obstetricians and new mother to push for affordable medications

Starting this month, the price of a critical drug used to prevent pregnant women from delivering premature babies increased from $10-20 per dose to $1,500 per dose. Sen. Brown joined Dr. Brian Mercer and Dr. Jennifer Bailit of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at MetroHealth, and a new mother, Jillian Burnett, to call on KV Pharmaceutical to reverse course on the outrageous price increases of a drug to prevent preterm pregnancy.



Driving Down Costs And Improving Patient Care

Sen. Brown joined U.S. Health &Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and leaders from the Solutions for Patient Safety Initiative at Nationwide Children’s Hospital to highlight cost savings and improved patient care through the initiative.

Sen Brown visits AcuTemp in Dayton

Sen. Brown visited Dayton to announce a bill that would renew a successful tax credit that helped a Dayton manufacturer create more than 50 clean energy jobs. Sen. Brown was joined by Brian Kohr, President of AcuTemp and Angela Dix, a worker who was hired due to federal advanced energy and energy efficiency tax credits. He toured the plant and met with workers.


Fighting higher gas prices

With gas prices rapidly on the rise due to political instability abroad, Sen. Brown held a news conference at the Ramco Norwood Marathon Station in Norwood where he called on U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to push Organization for Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) to increase production levels. Sen. Brown was joined by Chris Odeh, owner of the Ramco Norwood Marathon Station.
