CLEVELAND, Ohio --Manufacturing is rebounding nationwide, and in Northeast Ohio the uptick is taking shape with new jobs, new businesses and more programs aimed at helping people who make things find new ways to innovate.
That's good news for an industry that took the biggest hit in the state, losing more employment during the recession than any other sector with a staggering 166,000 jobs lost - or a 20 percent drop. About a third of those jobs are back, making manufacturing a leader in Ohio's recovery.
On Oct. 3, by presidential proclamation, the nation observed National Manufacturing Day. Ohio for decades has been one of the nation's leading manufacturing states. But, with the state still recovering from the Great Recession, what is the state of manufacturing in Ohio -- now and for years into the future?
