Anti-trust push becomes paramount

Aggressive effort will be placed on legal and regulatory fronts in the attempt to stop the proposed air transport deal between DHL and United Parcel Service (UPS), regional task force members were told Tuesday in their third meeting.

The task force, comprised of public officials and other interested parties, was formed to confront the plan to restructure DHL’s U.S. operations — more specifically, to confront a central plank in the plan to make UPS the sole air carrier for DHL within the United States. If carried out, the switch from ABX Air and ASTAR Air Cargo to UPS is projected to result in the direct loss of at least 7,400 jobs based at the Wilmington Air Park.
