The Auglaize sewer project has received a $5.2 million boost.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture, under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, will be releasing $5.2 million in loans and grants for the project, a joint effort for Defiance and Paulding Counties.
The USDA funds will go toward the Defiance section of the project. Other funding is being pursued for the Paulding County section.
"These funds will ensure that Defiance and Paulding County communities have reliable water infrastructure to keep drinking water safe and to protect the Auglaize River," said Sen. Sherrod Brown. "This investment not only addresses the challenges of our aging water systems, but will stimulate economic development and create new jobs."
