Cincinnati is good like that.

When there is a noble cause in need of support, we show up. It's part of our benevolent and collaborative nature.

That's what happened after I wrote last week about the plight of Ohio's oldest cemetery designated for Black people, United American Cemetary in Madisonville.

The cemetery was founded in 1848 in Avondale. White citizens had the cemetery declared a public nuisance, and bodies and headstones were moved to its current location in 1883.  The cemetery is now in need of infrastructure improvements. Downtown-based Union Baptist Church has taken care of the cemetery since the 1960s, but the church can't do it alone, and it should not have to.
