Continuing a recent trend of working together, Sens. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) and Rob Portman (R-OH) visited with President Donald Trump alongside other senators from both sides of the aisle on Tuesday.
The topic up for discussion was steel and aluminum imports, specifically a perceived overcapacity by Chinese steel manufacturers, which some believe threatens related American jobs.
A Section 232 investigation was made into the matter and the Ohio senators have since been taking part in round tables with Ohio manufacturers and their employees. A Section 232 case is undertaken in regard to the national security implications of imports and can lead to restrictions.
