New federal resources will allow for the construction of affordable housing units in Wood County. U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that Harbor Town Senior Residence, LLC in Wood County will receive a $1,450,000 loan from the USDA Rural Development branch's Rural Rental Housing Guaranteed Loan program. The total cost of the project is expected to be $11,018,359, and will build 69 units of affordable rental housing for residents making less than 50 or 60 percent of the area's median income.

"It can often be difficult for rural communities to fully fund critical housing or infrastructure projects," Brown said. "These funds from the Agriculture Department will help Wood County ensure affordable housing options for its residents."
