WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) was appointed to the joint Senate-House conference committee to finalize legislation that brings comprehensive reforms to the U.S Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Last Tuesday marked the first meeting between the twenty-eight conferees. Brown is one of 14 senators on the committee and a senior member of the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs.

“Our nation’s veterans deserve the highest quality of care possible and a VA that plays a key role in helping our veterans receive the care they deserve,” Brown said. “As a member of the conference committee, I will work to ensure reforms bring increased accountability within the VA while ensuring the Department has the resources it needs to hire new doctors and nurses to help address shortages throughout the system. I urge my colleagues to set aside partisan differences and work quickly to pass this crucial legislation.”
