MANSFIELD — Credit card holders need more protection against abusive lending practices, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown and Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray said Tuesday.
Brown is co-sponsoring the Credit Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure Act now before Congress.
During a conference call with reporters Tuesday, Ohio’s junior senator said he hopes the legislation — similar to a bill passed by the House last week — will be voted on by the Senate by next week.
“Ohioans have had enough of the abusive and predatory practices used by credit card companies,” Brown said. “Too many Americans struggle to pay their bills. They shouldn’t also have to worry about arbitrary interest rate increases or outrageous penalty fees.”
