Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) praised President Obama’s initiative to improve worker training, but said Congress can do more to help by passing his bill.
“The administration’s initiative is an important step towards addressing our country’s skills gap,” Brown said. “Congress can continue this progress by passing my bipartisan legislation which would strengthen job training efforts.”
Brown’s comments came after Obama announced an executive order Wednesday for a $600 million program to train U.S. workers for well-paid, middle-class jobs. It’s part of the administration’s efforts to address wealth inequality in America.
