U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D., Ohio) announced today that he’s pushing legislation that will improve reporting and data collection for infant deaths.

Mr. Brown, who introduced his bill with a Republican co-sponsor in July, unveiled the legislation locally at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, along with hospital and Lucas County health officials.

He noted that Ohio has one of the highest rates of infant mortality in the United States. Senator Brown’s bill would increase the ability of health officials to track and investigate unexplained and sudden infant deaths.
