U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, has introduced an amendment to a proposed water resource bill that would help speed up funding for Blanchard River flood mitigation and similar projects across the country.

According to a press release from Brown's office, the amendment to the Water Resources Development Act of 2013 would make projects eligible for federal construction funds once the Army Corps of Engineers' chief engineering report is completed.

An authorization bill has been debated in the U.S. Senate since 2007, but is starting to make its way through the chamber now.
