Brown Touts City as Model for His Bill

WASHINGTON – Revitalization efforts under way in Youngstown are examples of how communities can address dilemmas such as shrinking populations and a rising level of vacant properties, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, told a Senate hearing Wednesday.

Brown, a member of the U.S. Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee, told how he visited the city recently and noted the community's efforts are just the type of action that's encouraged by legislation he's co-sponsored with U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., and U.S. Reps. Tim Ryan of Ohio, D-17, and Brian Higgins, D-N.Y.
