Brown, Voinovich attempt to delay new Medicare law

Both of Ohio's U.S. senators are prominently featured in a Senate Finance Committee bid to delay a law imposing a new Medicare competitive-bidding program for medical equipment such as oxygen systems and wheelchairs.

The medical-equipment lobby has been furiously fighting the new program. One member of the lobby is Elyria-based Invacare, whose executives, political action committee and others associated with the company have been top givers to Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown and Republican Sen. George V. Voinovich.
