TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - A Clyde couple took their fight for kids with cancer to Washington, DC and found out some discouraging news from the Ohio Department of Health.

Warren and Wendy Brown are encouraged by efforts that can lead to more help for sick kids, like the more than 30 children in the eastern Sandusky County Childhood Cancer Cluster.

The Browns made new relationships with Ohio Sen. Rob Portman and Iowa Sen. Tom Harkin, plus strengthened support from Ohio Rep. Bob Latta and Sen. Sherrod Brown.

"Sherrod Brown has taken a personal interest in our family," Warren said.

Sen. Brown is a co-sponsor of a bill called the Creating Hope Act that will give pharmaceutical companies incentives to invest in pediatric disease medicines.
