Nine area government offices are receiving about $10 million from the U.S. Department of Energy toward new energy initiatives.

The municipalities now have until the end this month to claim their pots of money — funded by the Recovery Act, or stimulus dollars — although some have gotten a head start in hopes of receiving the funding sooner.

Of them, Montgomery County is receiving the most, $2.7 million, and Huber Heights is getting the least, $152,900.
