The unemployment rate for Clinton County now exceeds 10 percent, jumping nearly three percentage points from December to January, and the jobless rate for Fayette and Highland counties have increased significantly as well.

The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) reports that the unemployment rate in Clinton County for January was 10.3 percent. In December 2008, the jobless rate was 7.6 percent.

Highland County’s unemployment rate stands at 12.7 percent for January, which is up from 8.9 percent in December.
