The federal government expanded National Emergency Grant funds by $1,657,746 to assist approximately 700 employees at the Twinsburg plant. The government also made available to the state $19.1 million in Trade Adjustment Assistance funding for other communities affected by auto company and supplier factory closings.
The money will be used at one-stop job centers where workers can go for training help.
The federal government has an additional $1.65 million for laid-off workers from the Chrysler stamping plant in Twinsburg.
