BELPRE - The Riverfront Park project remains on track thanks to new federal funding announced Wednesday.
The passage of the Omnibus Appropriations Act of 2009 in the U.S. House of Representatives will give another $96,000 to the project, Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, said. The funds come from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and were secured by Brown and Sen. George Voinovich, R-Ohio.
"This is really great," said Belpre Mayor Mike Lorentz. "This proves the lawmakers remain behind this project and it keeps us on track."
