About 25 former employees of The Taylor Cos. in Bedford are eligible to apply for worker adjustment assistance, according to a release issued by U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown's office.
The Taylor Cos., the parent company of The Taylor Chair Co. in Bedford and The Taylor Desk Co. in Lynwood, Calif., on June 8 announced its plans to go out of business.
According to a Department of Labor report, all employees involved in the production of chairs and desks are eligible to apply for Trade Adjustment Assistance, a federal program providing aid to workers who lost their jobs or had their hours or wages cut because of international trade.
“The loss of a job can be a devastating experience,” Sen. Brown said in the release. “Ohioans who work hard and play by the rules should not be left to struggle when they lose their job through no fault of their own. These resources will help ensure that displaced workers from the Taylor Chair Company have the financial support and training opportunities to get a fresh start.”
