BUCYRUS -- Sen. Sherrod Brown joined several local government officials and community leaders Friday in celebrating the creation of 130 new jobs at the GE Bucyrus Lamp Plant.

"This $60 million investment will put more than 100 Ohioans to work in stable, good-paying jobs making energy-efficient products that consumers want to buy," the Mansfield native said. "It's yet another reason why we should extend the popular and successful 48C program from the Recovery Act that helped GE refit its plant and made today's event a reality."

The investment came from stimulus money and tax credits to bring a T8 linear fluorescent bulb line to the Bucyrus plant from Canada. The new line will also ensure the continuation of jobs for 160 people already working at the plant.
