Saving the jobs of DHL employees is the number one priority of state and federal officals, Ohio Governor Ted Strickland said in a telephone interview Monday afternoon.
DHL officials announced last week the company is negotiating with United Parcel Service (UPS) to provide air transport shipments in the United States, a move that would eliminate more than 6,000 jobs at the Wilmington air park.
“It has the potential to be a huge problem for not only Wilmington and Clinton County but for the entire region,” Strickland said. “We’re looking at our options and we’ll talk about all of the options facing DHL.”
