The National Resources Defense Council and the National Disease Clusters Alliance, Ohio have identified five disease clusters in Ohio, according to a report released Monday.

The cities are: Clyde (childhood cancer), Wellington (multiple sclerosis), Marion (leukemia), Middletown (brain cancer), and Marysville (leukemia).

The nonprofit groups want lawmakers and policymakers better documentation of clustered diseases and for toxic chemicals to be identified and controlled before they sicken people.

As a result of the report, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown announced today that he's a co-sponsorship of legislation that would provide more federal resources to disease cluster areas. The U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works discussed the topic today in Washington.
