New Army fire station part of $40 million construction plan

MANSFIELD — Ohio’s adjutant general called Friday’s opening of a new Army Guard fire station “a historic event.”

“We put an Army Guard unit on an Air National Guard base, a base that we all thought was going to close,” Maj. Gen. Greg Wayt said.
  
“This is the opening of all the construction we’re going to be doing. It’s truly important that we make this a joint base for future BRACs (Base Realignment and Closure commissions) so we’re BRAC-proof.”
