House OKs bill on disparity in vets' benefits

Washington - The House of Representatives on Wednesday unanimously passed legislation designed to correct regional disparities in veterans' disability pay that give Ohio's veterans the lowest average payments in the nation.

The legislation authored by Dover Democratic Rep. Zack Space would require the Veterans Administration to review its disability rating system, monitor regional data, and provide yearly reports to Congress. A Senate version of the bill introduced by Ohio Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown is pending before its Committee on Veterans Affairs.
