PORT CLINTON -- Mayors, elected officials and managers from governments in northwest Ohio met here Monday to discuss job creation, economic development and infrastructure with a representative from U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown's office.

"The top priority of the senator when he returns in September is going to be jobs," said Brown's Deputy State Director Beth Thames. "Sherrod often says, 'Yes, we have a budget deficit, but we also have an infrastructure deficit.'"

Thames, one of four speakers at the Northwest Ohio Mayors and Managers Association meeting, said Ohio and all its communities need infrastructure improvements to maintain competitive advantages in business.
