WASHINGTON — U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur and Sen. Sherrod Brown will get a raise this year, but they don't plan to keep the extra money, according to staff in their offices.

Members of Congress will receive an automatic annual $4,700 cost-of-living pay increase this month, according to Kaptur's office. It will take effect unless Congress takes action to stop it.

"The senator is donating his cost of living adjustment to charity," Brown's press secretary Meghan Dubyak said yesterday, adding that Brown has donated in the past. "Half will go to food banks, and half will go to free clinics, including the one in Lorain."
