Tallmadge -- Mayor Dave Kline participated in a conference call with Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) on economic development strategies in suburban areas on May 10.
The 35-minute discussion, which featured nearly a dozen mayors from across the state, was an opportunity for the community leaders to share their input on a variety of topics such as collaboration, job creation, workforce development and budgetary concerns.
"It was great for me as the city of Tallmadge mayor to be able to talk to a senator," said Kline, who feels he's developing a better rapport with local and state representatives.
"This working conference call was conducted to ensure that suburban and exurban communities have the educational, technological, and economic resources needed to thrive in the future," said Brown in a news release.
Brown was unavailable for follow-up questions by press time May 12.
Kline said he seized the opportunity to communicate some of his concerns about Tallmadge with the senator.
"It was more about us telling him about our needs," said Kline, "and that's really what he wanted."
