OTTAWA — As Putnam County readies for more flooding, federal legislators are again urging the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to direct more funding to the Blanchard River Flood Risk Management Project.

U.S. Rep. Bob Latta, R-Bowling Green, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Avon, and U.S. Sen. Rob Portman, R-Cincinnati, sent a letter Wednesday to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Great Lakes and Ohio River Division stressing the need for funding in Corps’ 2014 work plan.

Repeated floods puts the region’s communities at risk and hinders economic growth, the three legislators said. The project needs to be completed for safety and economic reasons, Latta said.
