Mansfield native attains elite Army general's rank

MANSFIELD -- Mansfield native Paul L. Wentz -- a 1976 graduate of Malabar High School with strong family roots in the military -- was promoted May 1 to Brigadier General in the U.S. Army.

He is Commanding General of the 13th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) in Fort Hood, Texas, with four support brigades under his command, including a medical brigade.

He has served overseas for nine years, including work in Germany, Panama, and Iraq.

Childhood friend Donald L. Sazdanoff, of Mansfield, attended the promotion ceremony at Fort Hood.
